Farmhouse

Location: Jalandhar

Size: 14,250 sft

Year of Completion: January 2007

Simple planes that give way to seamless space; a feeling of being one with nature while indoors; glass walls that don't invade your privacy, thats the kind of aura, that is being created for this couple in Jalandhar.
Green Fields, Village Wariana, Kapurthala Road, Jalandhar, far away from the maddening crowd, discreetly tucked into the outskirts is Gaurav & Shivani Sud's farmhouse.

The farmhouse is spread over 2 acres site approx.( 73,425 sqft) The total built up area is 11,945 sqft.

Along with a Residence (7,715 sqft), a Gym (940 sqft), Clubhouse (1960 sqft ) Servant's block (1,330 sqft) forms the built-up area .
Other Miscellaneous areas on site are Swimming pool, Gazebo, Havan Kund, Covered parking areas and Generator's room. All these areas are bonded well throught various elements in terms of site planning.

The Client's brief was simple- a spacious, airy and well-lit house along with recreational spaces spread over site so that on the whole its a family retreat.

In terms of elevations, it has all the traditional elements of a Punjabi village like arches, niches, brick vaults but still these elements are used in a modern way to give it a contemporary look. Further elements such as structural and wooden pergola give the facade its own character.

Interiors also have a unique character. The courtyard, with lots of greenery and spiral staircase, is the perfect answer to “ what to see within”.
As you step inside, you cannot help but notice the sensitive amalgam of various modern and rustic materials. Continuity in design is the hallmark in all spaces. The minimalist interiors are deliberately uncluttered so as to highlight every element, from the exquisite accessories (tucked away in discreet niches) and varied lights controlling the moods of each zone. All rooms have a distinct look. Effort has been to optimize the usage of the space without overcrowding the house.

The kitchen has been functionally divided in to the owners' and domestic help's domain.

The clubhouse is a perfect entertainment zone . It has the comforts of a pool table, a bar area, study, and a home theater along with utility areas such as kitchen and toilet.
The recreation zone spills outside to the swimming pool. It is a beautifully designed area with a gym building catering to its further requirements. This building has state of art sauna, steam and shower rooms along with some sitting lobby space to relax and have a rejuvenating experience.
