1998Low cost, passive low energy methods in the village context were explored to arrive at an appropriate solution. The buildings were designed for easy build ability and low maintenance. This was to create a healthy, harmonious an ecologically sound campus to promote a creative learning environment
Auditorium, Junior School, Hostel at St. Anne’s School
Location-Chandigarh, 80000 Sft, 8 Crore, Completed 2014, Auditorium completed 2012The multi-purpose hall had to allow for indoor game courts and also allow for school performances. A capacity of 1500 makes it one of the largest halls in Chandigarh. It also has a basement for a Church congregation of 800 people.
Little Flower School at Sangrur
Location-Punjab, 80000 Sft, 8 Crore, 2009The high school campus is to have a junior school, middle and high school along with teachers’ residences, a church and other ancillary buildings. A large courtyard is the hub of the junior school. Permanent, low maintenance finishes give the school its unique character
Saupin Primary School
Location - Mohali, Punjab, 40000 Sft, 2.5 Crore (estimated)Alternative materials and innovative design to create a fun environment to explore and learn. Interesting play spaces have been added to aid the learning process. Adequate day lighting and ventilation have been ensured for a comfortable indoor environment. An interesting plan form with distinctive classroom shapes and courtyards add to the overall ambience of the school.
Saupin Primary School
Location-Chandigarh, 50000 Sft, 3.5 Crore (estimated), 2005Creative planning, appropriate building technologies and innovative spaces have been combined to create an environment to learn and play. Special care has been taken to make the building friendly to children with special needs. There is scope for partitioning, integrating to regulate size of various spaces. Rainwater harvesting and gray water recycling have been proposed
Temporary building for Chitkara International School
Location-Chandigarh, 10000 Sft, 25 lacs (estimated), 2004A temporary building being constructed right now uses appropriate building materials i.e. ferro-cement roofing channels and interlocking cement stabilized hydraulically compressed soil blocks
Ankur School at Punjab University
Location - Chandigarh, 30000 Sft, 1 croreThis ‘evolved’ school envisages a truly ‘down to earth’ ambience. The latest pedagogical innovations will be incorporated in the school and the physical space will be designed to complement this.
Sacred Heart High School
Location-Amritsar, 25000 Sft, 1 crore, 2005The new three storey building is to house the junior school, and the adjacent building will have the canteen and the activity rooms. The exposed brick building has wide corridors and adequate lighting and ventilation in all the classrooms.
SCJM Convent: ASHADEEP
Location-Kauli, Patiala, 15000 Sft, 1.1 crore, 2005An exposed brick building, allowing for daylighting and ventilation and catering for easy maintenance. The first phase of the project includes the Convent building built around a courtyard. The Girl’s Hostel and Dispensary completes the buildings on campus.
Little Flower School
Location -Manimajra, Chandigarh, 9000 Sft, 36 Lacs, 2005This old campus is to have this new building to house the senior classes. The courtyard thus formed between the two buildings will be used a playground.
Library
Location-Faridkot, 3500 Sft, 2015An NRI based in the US is donating a library building to the Alma Mater of his deceased wife. In an existing girls higher secondary school a innovative brick building is being added with adequate daylighting to serve as a library.
FRISHTA
Location-Dera Bassi, 20000 Sft, 2014An orphanage for a British NGO in 8 acres of land in rural Punjab. Six family style homes, a teaching centre, a medical centre and recreational facilities are to be built for destitute kids from the area. Each home shall house upto 12 children with a dedicated, trained married couple as foster parents. Simple child friendly design elements are being used with brick facades to form the vocabulory for the campus.
Aurobindo School
Location -Baddi, 11000 Sft ,2013The new building had to be integrated with the existing building giving provision for expansion. The design brief given was of a building which is well lit, well ventilated, easy to maintain, simple finishes, shall have provision for noise control.
Aurobindo College
Location-Ludhiana, 45000 Sft, 2013The new college building had to follow the material pallet of the existing building. The problems of the existing building were bad ventilation,bad acoustics and no scope of future extension. All the above problems were considered while designing the new block incorporating solar chimneys for natural ventilation and allowing flexibility for future extension.
J.P. Toddlers World
Location-Panchkula, 12000 SftThe design emphasizes on creating a learning-while-playing environment. Use of alphabets and numbers along with colours in the flooring patterns makes earning fun. Special attention has been paid to scale as an element in the design of this primary school.
