New Office Building at HAREDA
Location-Panchkula, 50000 Sft, Rs. 12 crores (estimated), 2013We won a national competition held for this 'Green' building. It is the first building in the region to get a 5 star GRIHA rating. Another unique feature is that this building will be a 'Net Zero' building. A host of energy efficient features will make this a model sustainable building.
Retrofitting for Energy efficiency of HPGCl building, Sector 6
Location-Khatkarkalan, 25000 Sft, 2009This office building was designed without keeping the basics of sustainability in mind. We were invited by the client when the building was at its finishing stage. A number of interesting, simple suggestions ensured that the building was much more energy efficient.
Energy audit and retrofitting for The Ford Foundation
Location-New Delhi, 10000 Sft, 1989This building designed by Stein Doshi Bhalla at Lodhi estate was an energy guzzler. An energy audit was conducted and we came up with a number of possibilities to reduce energy consumption. These changes were then carried out and the electricity bill was considerably lowered.
Energy audit for The Computer Science Building
Location - IIT, New Delhi, 30000 Sft, 1995This was an academic exercise done in 1995. The old computer building was consuming a lot of energy. An energy audit was conducted and a lot of options were explored to reduce conventional energy consumption. A reduction of nearly 30% in the monthly bill was achieved.
New Factory for Micron Instruments Pvt Ltd
Location-Industrial Estate Barwala, Haryana, 120000 Sft, 6 crore estimated, Ongoing, at construction stageThis factory is to produce high precision parts as original equipment for national and international arms manufacturers. A high level of comfort for the workers is proposed which will be achieved by passive means. The functionality of the building is not to be compromised by the modern exterior. An IGBC factory rating is being applied for and we are confident of getting a 'Gold' mark for this.
Control Room Building: 200 KW Solar Power Plant
Location-Khatkarkalan, 1000 Sft, 2003This passive solar building achieves thermal comfort inside while maintaining its functionality and aesthetic appeal. Solar Chimneys aid in natural ventilation while optimally designed south facing windows ensure adequate daylight.
MLA’s Hostel at Shimla for HPPWD
Location - Shimla, 1999Demonstration project highlighting passive solar building possibilities for cold cloudy climate. Our involvement as a solar consultant resulted in retrofitting of the earlier CPWD design. Features in the TERI book “Energy Efficient Building in India”
Temporary Building for Saupin School
Location-Chandigarh, 8000 Sft, 2000Alternative planning, appropriate building technologies and innovative design to create a fun environment to explore and learn. Hydraulically compressed cement stabilized interlocking blocks were used along with Micro Concrete Roofing tiles to complete the building in a record time of 45 days.
Saupin Primary School
Location-Chandigarh, 45000 Sft, 3.5 crore (estimated), OngoingCreative planning, appropriate building technologies and innovative spaces have been combined to create an environment to learn and play. Special care has been taken to make the building friendly to children with special needs. There is scope for partitioning, integrating to regulate size of various spaces. Rainwater harvesting and gray water recycling have been proposed
Training Centre for Gram Vikas
Location - Mohuda, Orissa, 5000 Sft, 2000A training centre to promote the new brick kiln technology exploring spatial design in the socio cultural, bio-climatic, and village economy context. As part of a design team we conceptualized the complete process including design and construction.
Architects residence
Location-Panchkula, Haryana, 1200 Sft, 1997, 2002, 2021Residence-cum-office with emphasis on day lighting and natural ventilation. Has featured on ZEE TV. Now with an added bedroom and general expansion has resulted in a more ‘complete’ house. The latest renovation has a number of energy efficient and sustainability features built into the design. Grey water recycling, and solar integration is the hallmark of this renovation.
Factory for Lee Cooper Shoes
Location-Baddi, 100000 Sft, 5 crore, 2005The structure for this large shoe factory is envisaged as a flat slab. This has allowed easy integration of services and an abundance of light and ventilation.
